we want to create a cement bathroom and I have a few questions regarding the sequence and amounts of cement/products needed.
Our room: We want to divide the bathroom into a wet and a “dry” area. The wet area will involve a shower and bath. The dry area will contain a toilet and sink. We want a concrete finish on all walls and on the floor of the “wet” area.
The surfaces are either concrete (floor wet area ca 4 sqm), Plasterboard (1of two shower walls, 2qm m) and stone wall without plasterboard ( 2sq m - one wall in the shower and all other walls).
Is this the right sequence of products:
1.) Waterproofing Grout “DSB DIchtschlämme”, 2-3 layers, 2mm thick in total- 1,6kg per mm thickness (per meter?)
–> I will use DSB for the plasterboard-wall in the shower, right? Do I also use it for the part of the plasterboard-wall in our bathroom which is never in direct contact with water?
2.) SQ Primer, applied to all surfaces
3.) For Plasterboard Surface: KLEMO adhesive mortar including light mesh
4.) Marfino Concrete 400 - 800g / sq m, two layers needed: Everywhere. DYE mixed into it according to our wishes?
5.) PUR2 Polycoat as a finish everywhere
In regards to all the walls/ceiling which are not in direct contact with water: Is it possible to use regular concrete for these and paint them? Or should every wall in a bathroom be plastered with Marfino / PUR2?
The most elaborate case is a shower where the wall is made of plasterboard. Here the following order would be correct:
Two coats of DSB sealing slurry to prevent moisture from penetrating the substrate.
At the earliest one day later a layer of KLEMO with inserted armour fabric to ensure that there is a good connection to the substrate and that no cracks can develop in the surface.
At the earliest two days later a layer of MARFINO, applied with a Venetian smoothing trowel. MARFINO can be dyed with cement-proof pigments as desired.
At the earliest one day later, sanding of the surface, if desired.
If the surface is not yet smooth enough or if the substrate shimmers through, a second coat of MARFINO can be applied in the same way.
At the earliest one day later, two coats of LFC silicification to increase the surface hardness.
At the earliest one day later, two coats of PUR-2 finish so that the surface does not absorb water and can be easily cleaned later.
On walls where there is no splashing water or where the surface is not sensitive to splashing water, you can omit part (1). This also applies to a tiled surface.
Parts (6) and (7) are also only important where there is splashing water. If this is not the case, you can also choose a different finish. My suggestion would then be a coating with LFC silicification and the next day a coating with H10 impregnation.
